Playing for Key West

The JSRC was proud to sponsor the Playing For Key West benefit which was held on October 9, 2017 at Tim McLoone's Supper Club.

The Club's JSRC Away Team has a long history of participating and supporting the Key West Half Marathon & Hemingway 5K Sunset Run every January.

4th Annual Shillelagh 5K - held October 7 - RESULTS NOW POSTED

The Order of the Friendly Sons of the ShIllelagh of the Jersey Shore presented the 4th Annual Shillelagh 5K on October 7!   Net Proceeds go to support the Club’s Charitable giving throughout the year: Thanksgiving Food Drive, College Scholarship Fund, Christmas Toy Drive & Helping Local Individuals and Families in Need.

Congrats to the ENTIRE JSRC XC team for their 3rd place overall finish in the Shore AC XC Series!
1. SAC - 5 points   Shore AC won the overall on a tie-breaker.
2. HOHA - 5 points
3. JSRC - 11 points
4. OBRR - 12 points
5. FARC - 17 points

Before the final race we honored the memory of our friend, Bob Van Clef, who left us way too soon after last year's Holmdel XC race.

Hashathon held November 12 - RESULTS NOW POSTED

This year's Hashathon was GREAT! The Fall 6 mile trail classic (38th annual) was held on Sunday, November 12th.  Congratulations to Overall Winners Christian Cleary and Lynn Nelson.

The race was challenging, but nearly everyone finished intact. This is definitely not "golf course" caliber Cross County.  The Hashathon course is hilly, rugged, covers plenty of uneven stairs, roots, logs and so much more.

Registration will be open until train is full.
Day of Registration available for $25 no shirt and train ticket while they last, After that have to buy at station. Make Race Day Checks out to JSRC or please have exact change in cash.

• Take the Train from Asbury Park then run back along the Boardwalks to Johnny Mac House of Spirits – 1 to 6 + Miles.

Black Friday Plans? Run the Born to Run 5 Miler

Race Day registration is still available for the Born to Run in Freehold, on Friday, November 24.

Race starts at 11:00 am, you can register from 9:30, at the Freehold Fire House, 51 W. Main St, Freehold, NJ 07728. Fee $40.00

Many of our nation’s citizens might think of the day after Thanksgiving mainly as Black Friday (the busiest shopping day of the year) but on the morning of the 24th of November they may competing in the 32nd annual Born to Run five-mile race, presented by the Freehold Area Running (FARC), at the Monmouth County seat of Freehold, New Jersey. The race benefits the Open Door Food Pantry of Freehold. The title of this event has a connection to Bruce Springsteen, famous American songwriter, singer and guitarist, who was raised in Freehold and has an album by that name: Born to Run.

Sad News - Edward Graff

Edward Graff, father of long-time JSRC member Jessie Joseph, passed away on Saturday

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday at the Fiore Funeral Home, 236 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst, Ocean Township. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Shiva will be observed from 4-8 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday at the home of Jessie Joseph.

JSRC New Year's Eve Annual Twilight Fun Run/Walk & Party will take place Sunday, December 31, 2017 - 4:00 p.m. at Leggett's Sand Bar, Manasquan.

Join us for the 14th Annual JSRC Twilight 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk on the Manasquan Beach Walk and back to Leggett's Sand Bar for the post run/walk celebration. This is a FUNRUN - Runners, walkers and friends are all welcome. JSRC contributes a portion of its race proceeds to Manasquan Recreation and Circle of Friends.

Adopt-a-Family Details and Date Set for 2017

Holiday Greetings to Everyone!
Planning is underway for the 2017 JSRC Adopt A Family event. This year we expanded to support six families this holiday season.

Please follow this link to see the 2017 JSRC Adopt A Family Wish List. Please send email to sign up for gifts. You can pick one person / one gift to give. Donations and gift cards also welcome.

The JSRC will match all contributions up to a total of $800. PLUS -  JSRC Member John O'Gorman will match up to $400 donated at the running club meeting on November 28th.

Gift Wrapping Night is set for Monday, December 18, at Mount Carmel School, 805 Pine Street and First Avenue, Asbury Park. Please sign up if you are able to attend.
