


A beautiful sunny Fall Day for the Annual Trick or Trot 4 miler on Sunday, October 25th. The Day started with Kids Races of various distances inside Seven Presidents Park and many of the participants were sporting costumes for the occasion.
The Four Miler attracted a large field of about 500 with many costumed runners. The overall winner (not in costume) shown on the left entering the park was Pedro Espinosa. in a time of 20:02. For the women in costume it was Amber Hart of Belmar in a time of 23;47.
After the Four Miler started about 100 plus walkers with dogs took off for a Dog Walk.
After all the events were completed a costume parade was held and awards were presented to the best costumes. Awards to top finishers and age groups were also presented as well as numerous random prizes to the participants.
The Post Race Party was held at the Celtic Cottage.
Congrats to Mary Moriarty and Tom Morrison and all the volunteers for a very successful event.

"There is no such thing as bad weather just soft people" and the 1000 or so participants (which was a record for the race in its long history) proved they were not "soft people" as they braved the chilling windy conditions of a north easter at the Annual Seaside Half Marathon and 5K on Sunday, October 18th. With winds coming directly out of the north at 25 to 30 miles an hour the runners were challenged on their return back to seaside heights after they turned on their return inside Island Beach State Park on the out and back course.
The men's winner shown breaking the finishing tape on the left was Robert Cannon of Haddonfield in a time of 1:13:51 and for the women it was JSRC's Dactilla Booth of Long Branch shown finishing on the right in a time of 1:34:15.
Awards were presented to the winners and age group awards inside Spicy's on the boardwalk where runners were treated to a pasta party.
Congratulations to Patty Hancock and the Ocean Running Club and especially all the volunteers for a great job under challenging circumstances.

In the accompanying 5K to the Seaside Half Marathon a good sized group of runners turned out for the race. For the men the winner was JSRC's Mike Mykotok of Brookline Village in 18;01 and for the women it was Lauren Ashman and Erine O'Connor in a virtual tie both of Toms River in 24:09.

A glorious sunny day for the Annual Run Thru Deal 5K held on Sunday, October 11th. A good field of over 300 runners participated in the long standing Jersey Shore race. The races started on Ocean Avenue in front of the Deal Casino led by Deal Fire Company Fire Truck and wound its way through the tree lined streets of Deal Borough for a finish at the Deal Casino.
In the 5K the Men's Winner was Greg Kucynski of Saryville shown on the left breaking the finish line in a time of 16:00 and for the women it was Amber Hart of Belmar shown on the right in a time of 19:01.
Prior to the 5K a 1 Mile Run was held - the runners took a wrong turn on the course and wound up running an extra 1/4 mile or so,.

A large field of over 300 runners competed in the annual Allaire 5K held in Allaire State Park on Sunday, October 4th. The runners traversed a scenic cross country course through the state park with a start and finish in a huge grassy field. The event was a pre - lim to the grammar school cross country races held at the same location immediately following the 5K Open Event..
Coming in first was Damon Godfrey in a time of 20:37. 5 Year age Group Awards were presented. Apple pies were given out to many random finishers.

Despite the predictions of rain the runners had some good running weather for the Annual McCormack 5K held in Lake Como on Saturday, October 3rd. With a start in front of Bar Anticipation the runners made their way down 16th Avenue, around the Lake Como onto the Spring Lake side and back to a finish at Bar A.
The Men's and overall winner was Farnese DaSilva of West Long Branch shown finishing on the left in a time of 17:53. For the men he was followed by Ken Kropac of Lake Como in 19:12, Marty Veilleux of Holmdel in 20:50, Jack Bleach of Belmar in 21:40 and Marty Fitzpatrick in 21:41.
For the womnen the top finisher was Debbie Mack of Jackson in 22:12 shown stopping just before the tape on the right. She was followed by Carly DePolo of Walll in 25:30, Donna Chevillot of Belmar in 25:36, Sungh Marino of Atlantic Highlands in 25:41 and Tara Fantini of Ocean in 25:47.
After the race runners were treated to a barbecue outside at Bar A and awards were presented to the top finishers.

We have some openings for volunteers to help out at the Celebrity Finish Area. We have a bus which will take you up to the finish line and bring you back home. Its a fun day for all. RunAPAlooza II which includes the 14th Annual Jersey Shore Relay Marathon, Asbury Park Half Marathon and 3 Mile Fitness Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 17, 2010. Mark down your calendars and save the date.
Its a great event to benefit Special Olympics New Jersey .
