A
huge field of about 1000 runners competed in the Annual Sgt Pat's 5K Race in
Long Branch. The race commemorated the memory of Sgt Patrick King the
fallen Long Branch Police Officer. The weather was on the chilly side
early but as the start drew near the sun could be seen peeking through the
clouds. When the runners finished the sun was shining through and the
awards ceremony was blessed with pleasant sunshine no doubt as a thanks from
someone above!.
The overall winner (shown on the left finishing) was Pedro Espinosa of Freehold in a time of 16:09 and for the women it was Stephanie Zottoli of Old Bridge (shown on the right) in a time of 19:14
Congratulations to Race Director, Phil Hinck and all the volunteers who made for a successful event.

ALS is also known as "Lou Gehrig’s Disease". Kerrie’s Krew members are Tracy Donnelly, Donny Sutton, Chris Lopez and Peggy Thorn. Our team will be running the Delaware Marathon Relay on May 18,2008 and finishing up with the Baltimore Marathon in Oct 2008, participating as individual runners. Our hope is to raise funds to help Kerrie with her financial struggles. Kerrie now has a live-in caregiver. There are significant medical costs, along with living expenses.

The
rain did not deter the throngs of runners who participated in the first annual
Half Way to Brielle Day 5K this past Saturday, March 8th. The rain held of
for the start as the runners lined up but there was a heavy down pour about 5
minutes into the race which cooled the runners off. The rain let up as the
first group of runners finished.
The men's winner ( shown on the left) was in a time of 17:55 and for the women it was Karen Charles (shown on the left) of Spring Lake Heights in a time of.20:20
