Yes - the Club will have a float in this year's Belmar Parade (and this is not an April Fool's Joke!)
so come on out and ride down Main Street to the cheers of thousands. The Club Float this year
will be in position #44 (a prime spot) behind New Jersey 101.5 and the Celtic Cottage Trolley.
You can jump in along the route right behind the trolley. Try and be at the start on the Belmar
Side of Lake Como at about 12:45 PM. Just look for position number 44. You will be sure to see
the club and its members at one of the parties along the route. You will have plenty of time to run
the E. Murray Todd in the morning and then come on over to the parade. Wear plenty of GREEN
- no Club Orange please!
This Sunday is the long standing E.Murray Todd Half Marathon which starts at Brookdale
Community College in Lincroft. The Club as usual will have a hospitality tent for the runners. If
anyone is interested in helping out please contact Phil Hinck at phinck@comcast.net.

At the Club's regular monthly meeting
those in attendance were treated to
more than a great meal at the Deal Fire
House. They also heard from Walter
MacGowan, the President of Shore
AC, about a famous local runner
Johnny Hayes. Johnny Hayes won a
gold medal in the 1908 Olympic
Marathon and it is considered to be one
of the most unique gold medals ever won in the Olympics. Walter gave a very interesting story of
Johnny Hayes and his accomplishments. He also displayed many of his trophies and medals to
include the famous Olympic Gold Medal. The collection is being held by the Shore AC under
trust. The Shore AC has a long history of athletic accomplishments and a long history at the
Jersey Shore with several Olympic athletes. Thanks to Walt for the very interesting story.

We will as usual have a Super Full Complement of Group Runs this Weekend. We'll be at Holmdel Park this Saturday at 10 AM - a great place to get out of the wind and nice fire after the run. The Super Sunday Run goes off as usual at 8 AM in Middletown. Marathon training runs are included. All paces represented. A group will also be meeting at Allaire State Park at the Hospital Road Entrance at 7:30 AM on Sunday. A group will also meet on Sunday at 8 AM at Manasquan Reservoir in Howell and do from 1 to 3 loops around the 5 mile Reservoir. A good way to stay out of the wind. Check out the Group Runs Page for more information and all our group runs.
Anyone interested in doing some cross training is invited to join Dave Zurheide after the regular Saturday Run at Holmdel Park for some Ice Skating on the Lake. Ice Skating will start about 11 AM for those who will pass up the 10 AM run.
"Oh, the weather outside is frightful, But the fire (in the main pavilion) is so delightful. And if
you want lots of fun, Come and run (or walk), come and run, come and run! " Dave Zurheide
