It was a great day for a run through
the Jersey Shore town of Belmar. With over 3000 participants this year it
was one of the largest Belmar Fives in its 30 year history. The weather
must have contributed to some pretty fast times and possible course

The Series continues next Thursday with the Half Mile for Kid's 9 and Under, Mile for Kid's under 14 and the Open 3 Miler. All Invited.
Remember to participate in the final week which is a handicap race you need to have run in at least one race. The final night is the last Thursday in July. For the three mile run we will have a handicap start based on your fastest time during the year. Please get to the Registration area early on that night so we can get started as soon as possible. We will plan to have the slowest runners leave starting at about 6:45. Kids half mile and mile will go off as usual but we will try to add in a little twist to make it fun for all. Series awards will be presented and we will have a post race pizza party.

Another large turn out for the third week of the Club's Summer Series. It was a nice evening for a run and there were some new winners in many of the events. Results are posted with points for the series. We have a new scoring system which gives points for the overall male/female place (10 for first, 9 for second, etc with 1 point for all) as well as the age group place in the same manner.
The Series Continues next Thursday with the Kids Races at 6:30 PM and the Open 3 Mile at 7 PM. Come on out - and get those points. With the new scoring system everyone has a chance at winning and we will go at least 3 deep in each age group with series awards.
If you have not participated you can still come out and run an individual event and qualify to run our series ending handicap race.
We are starting to plan for next year's event - we could use some energetic people to help out in the planning. No experience is needed.
We are also soliciting sponsors for next year. Its an excellent opportunity for a sponsor to become involved with a great event for a good cause - Special Olympics.
If you would like to help out in a meaningful way or have any leads on a sponsor please send an email to jsrc@hotmail.com

out door events, however the third annual Ryan’s Run attracted over 450
participants..245 runners completed the 5k and over 100 children competed in the
kids races. It rained ALL day Saturday in Middletown, except during our event!!
Our sponsors and the great group of competitive runners

Kaiser race director. The 5k event

ever ran said Diane Petruzzelli of Lincroft NJ who finished in 19:08. This is
one of the most organized events of the year, and the setting for the pre race

As
usual, I am organizing JSRC's efforts to
enter Masters teams in the NJ International on Saturday, June 10. Yes, it
is the same day as The Sheehan Classic, so I am facing more challenges than
usual.
The goal is to field
at least one Masters Men's team (and maybe a Women's team) for the event.
As you can guess, we need four (4) respectable runners to field each team.
The event takes place in the afternoon, so it is possible to run both Sheehan
and NJ International (although I do not recommend it)! If you are
interested, please e-mail me (DRZurheide@aol.com)
by Sunday, May 21. The cost per person is a mere $5.
Please also consider running the Mary Conry Memorial Women's Mile in the Meet. As you know, JSRC is sponsoring this event in memory of our beloved departed Club member. You can run it as a serious competitive event, or jog it with a group (women AND men). Either way. your support is encouraged. Thanks for your consideration, Z President

To help employers, running clubs, or individuals plan and promote their local Run@Work Day event, the RRCA has developed a “Planning Kit” which can be found at http://www.rrca.org/programs/programs.html#P4. The “Kit” contains a sample press release for announcing local events, ideas for planning and promoting the event, and information on nutrition and running that can be shared with event participants. In addition, Run@Work Day events can be posted on the RRCA Calendar for FREE. Event organizers can use the special event code, Run@Work Event, when posting their event.
