The Second annual Ryan's Run was a big success, thanks to great weather, volunteers, runners, sponsors and the help of the JSRC and Phil and Penny Hinck! This 5k event takes runners through Middletown's horse country and into Huber Woods Park for a brief cross country. It is a favorite shore area event for many! Our race is a special family event that has attracted some great runners, and supports a great cause, the RAKMF. www.rakmf.org Thank you very much to the family of JSRC runners who come out and support us.

We need a few volunteers to help with the registration and scoring of the Thursday Evening Summer Series of races for youth and adults which starts on June 16. Volunteers need to be at the Wall Municipal Complex by 6 PM. If you would like to volunteer (no experience necessary) just email us to let us know you are coming or to get more info. Please email us at jsrc@hotmail.com
You don't need to be at every race!
Good article on the cost to put on a race and where your race registration fee goes. Not included are the time and effort of all the volunteers. Next time you run a race thank the volunteers or send a thank you note. And if something does not go right please understand that all those people are really trying their best and they are not getting paid for their efforts. If results are late - don't blame the volunteers.
Of course the best way to "pay back" is to volunteer at an event and get involved. Then you can learn first hand what is needed. The club is always looking for volunteers and even Race Directors for many of our events. Email jsrc@hotmail.com to volunteer.

"I just wanted to thank the entire support team and sponsors for a wonderful event Saturday morning! I have just started running in races over the past 12-18 months and this was truly one of the best appointed – starting with the 5K signs on the roads leading to the event, to the potted flowers lining the awards table, to the clean port-o-johns, to the music, etc. etc. etc. - there was nothing lacking at this event. Though my boyfriend and I are residents of Somerset county, we will continue to look for running events sponsored by JSRC." Mary Homer - Race paticipant
