The day before I did the 8K walk, most strolled but their was some competition for racewalking, about a dozen or so. Beautiful course, but I am returning to the 15k next year as it is more scenic and with my pace, I can still manage to get the course completed without bringing in the last of the runners.
The night before was the Long Distance Hall of Fame Induction. It is free and very nice. We are blessed to be involved with an activity that have so much talent and give back so much. The free pasta Satruday night at Carmellas is wonderful.Have to show your bib number.
We have already made our hotel reservations for next year! Pictures will be coming. Deana and Norm
Dick was a regular at many Jersey Shore Events and at one time or another like many of us was a member of many of the local running clubs. The running community will miss him.

A
patriotic field of 391 road racers, many garbed in red, white and blue as well
as stars and stripes, began celebrating our nation’s 229th birthday
on the sunny, windless, good-racing weather Fourth of July morning, by competing
in the Wall Township Recreation’s sixteenth annual Firecracker Five race.
After
a recorded rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner by Cher, organized by Spin
Doctor, Fred Rummel, race director, asked the racers “ to remain silent
for a moment in honor of our military who are fighting for us to have the
freedom to participate in a race such as this. He then gave a
three-command start and the racers were off, jockeying for positions on the
5-mile course that starts and finishes in front of the 200-acre plus Wall
Township Municipal Center on Allaire Avenue and includes Campbell Avenue, 18th
Avenue and Bailey Corners Road.
Jim Robbins – Jims Complete Article will be in the Coaster and Atlantic Herald.

This 5k event takes runners through Middletown's horse country and into Huber Woods Park for a brief cross country. It is a favorite shore area event for many! Our race is a special family event that has attracted some great runners, and supports a great cause, the RAKMF. www.rakmf.org Thank you very much to the family of JSRC runners who come out and support us.
