The Saturday Run at Holmdel Park is gaining traction with over 24 participants this past Saturday - the group meets at 9:45 AM. The Sunday Run as usual is our largest run and it is also picking up despite the cold weather - probably because our course is pretty much protected from those wintery winds. Marathon training is now started and it is not too late to get in on the fun of a 20 mile run - but you can run shorter distance of about 6 miles as well.. The Thursday Run is continuing to get a good turnout and remember whenever it is below freezing we get free hot chocolate at Dunkin Donuts. The Tuesday run has a good steady group and things are picking up there as well.
Come on out to a group run - its a great way to stay motivated through the winter. All paces are represented.

Runners should be aware that several Monmouth County Parks are open to hunters. When running in the Parks make sure you wear something bright (orange is a good color). If you would like to get more information or express your opinion regarding huinting in the parks please visit the Monmouth County Park System Web Site.

The Club's Saturday Group Run kicks off this coming Saturday, January 12 at beautiful Holmdel Park. We meet at the visitors center there and there is usualy a large fire in the fireplace to warm up after the run. Its a great course through the woods an nice trails and lots of hills. All paces are welcome from beginner to whatever. Don't forget about all the other club runs on Tuesday in Long branch, Thursday in Belmar and Sunday in Middletown. Again - ALL paces and abilities welcome.
A large field of runners participated in the Club's Annual New Year's Eve Twilight Run held in Lake Como, NJ. The runners started at Bar Anticipation and made their way around Lake Como into Spring Lake and a return back to Bar A. At Bar runners celebrated with a great buffet and other refreshments. Lots of random prizes were presented. A countdown to New Year's in Ireland was then held and the now partying runners were showered with confetti, music and lots of fun and dancing.
Congratulations to Phil and Penny Hinck who not only organized the Run but celebrated their 9th Wedding Anniversary at the event.

Registration for the Jersey Shore Relay is now open. Returning team captains should have received an email concerning special rates for returning teams of $25 per person until January 31, 2008. So sign up now to guarantee your entry and the reduced rate. Remember we have sold out the relay in the past two years and we expect another sell out. We are limited to the number of teams that can participate.
This year we have added the Jersey Shore Marathon Distance Run. There is no limit on the number of participants in the Individual Run. Its a point to point run from Seaside Heights to Asbury Park. Bus transportation to the start is provided in the registration. We will be adding more water and Gatorade stops to accommodate those who want to do the entire 26.2 Mile course.
We will also have a Fitness Walk and Run starting and Finishing at Asbury Park's newly refurbished Convention Hall - an application will be posted on the Relay Web Site soon.
We have a new caterer courtesy of Ross's Dockside in Sea Bright - and we'll have great food and drink for all along with several great bands on stage at Convention Hall. An Expo is also planned.
This year New Jersey Special Olympics will be taking a more active role and we have some exciting things planned.
So get your team mates together if you ran last year - and if you want to run this year - start putting together your team and sign up soon.
