
Runner's Line Up for the Start of the New Year's Eve Twilight Run in Lake Como
A crowd of over 250 runners participated in this year's New Year's Eve Twilight Run to celebrate with the last run of 2006 and ring in 2007 with a great party at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como, NJ. Fireworks went off during the run around the Lake and the runners were treated to a great post race party to help bring in the New Year.
The first finisher was Ken Vercammen in a spectacular time of 14:08.
It was also Race Directors Phil and Penny Hinck's 9th Wedding Anniversary and the runners all helped them celebrate.


Another large turn out of several hundred for the Annual Share
Athletic Club's Polar Bear 5 Mile Race held on the beautiful Asbury Park
Boardwalk.
A record number of runners (about 50) also participated in the post race Polar Bear Ocean Plunge - check out the photos.
Winners were presented with distinctive Polar Bear Plaques.
Congratulations to Race Director, Elliot Denman and the Shore Athletic Club for another great event.

The traditional Saturday morning run at Holmdel Park gets going this Saturday, January 6th at 10 AM. The group meets at the visitors center and runs about 5 miles through some scenic trails. Its a great way to get out of the winter wind. All paces and abilities are welcome. Stop by and check it out this Saturday!

There will be a benefit for Shaun Robinson the son of Bruce and Sharon Robinson from Miles Ahead Sports on December 30th at O'Neil's in Manasquan for 3 to 6 PM. Shaun was seriously injured in a vehicle accident and is facing lots of medical bills.
Clarence has not been at the races recently but was a regular at many local Jersey Shore Events - running and race walking. You would probably remember him with his white hair and trademark Irish Flagged Shorts which he wore to all the races. Clarence passed away last night.

A large turn out of nearly 400 runners participated in this Year's Jingle Bell Run to benefit the Arthritis Foundation at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como. The overall winner was Jeremy Pilkington finishing on the left in a time of 17:00 and for the women it was finishing on the right Stephanie Dixon of Madison in a time of 21:05.
Congratulations to the Arthritis Foundation and all the volunteers from the Foundation and the Jersey Shore Running Club who put on a great event.

Program consists of 5-Mile Run at 1 p.m. and 10-mile racewalk/5-mile health walk at 10 a.m. Trophies to leading finishers and Polar Bear commemorative T-shirts to all entrants. The Ocean Running Club and all the participants in the Annual Reindeer Romp held in Point Pleasant Beach were greeted to some fine runnig weather. Santa led the large field in the Kid's Races, One Mile and the 5K race.
