It was a glorious day for the Fifth Annual Asbury Park 5K held on Saturday, August 9th. With over 1000 runners this was the largest race of the five. The runners were treated to some especially great weather for running with a cool ocean breeze and temperatures at the start in the 60's. The sun warmed up the runners on the course which started a block west of the world famous Convention hall and wound through the town down stately Grand Avenue befitting its name with large mansions and numerous historic churches lining the course. It then went through the newly revitalized downtown with many restaurants and shops and back along ocean avenue for a second loop where spectators could watch the runners as the raced through the course. It was back onto the boardwalk for the last half mile or so and a finish in front of Convention Hall right by Madam Marie's.
