What: A Bodman South run!

Where: Bar Anticipation, 16th Ave, S. Belmar NJ

When: Sunday, July 21, 2002 at 8 am sharp (rain, snow or shine)

Why: OK, now the questions are getting difficult, we are not sure why, it seemed like a good idea after a couple of beers, here's the plan, we will assemble much the same as Bodman only at Bar A. We will run to the boardwalk and complete a 10 mile run (or more or less or well whatever distance you like) and return to Bar A for a delicious brunch and complimentary breakfast drink (ie bloody mary or whatever) or non-alcoholic beverage too. We will be at the back outdoor patio and volleyball area. SHOWERS available too! It just seemed like a nice whacky thing to do for the summer. Water and bathrooms available before the event and great brunch and volleyball afterwards.

Sunday brunch: 3 egg omelette, or Ham and Cheese Omelette, or Western omelette with French toast, or Buttermilk Pancakes, or Pork Roll Egg and Cheese Sandwich, with home fries and toast. (and beverage)

No Reservations or registration required. Cost to include brunch will be nominal - $5 or less.

If you would like to do a longer run - just plan to get there earlier. A group will probably also leave at 7:30 AM

Bronx Half Marathon

After taking 1st Place in both the Masters and the Veterans categories at the Bronx Half Marathon on Sunday, July 7th, the JSRC Mens Teams are both in place for awards at the 2002 NYRR Club Championships. The JSRC Masters Team is solidly in 2nd place with 79 points, trailing only the Central Park Track Club, which has a long tradition of winning in NYRR races. This is the first year for our JSRC Teams, and we should be able to hold 2nd place. The top three teams are honored at the NYRR annual banquet. The Masters team was lead by Bob Bythell (1st AG) 1:15:49 (5:47 pace), Tom Hall (1st AG) 1:20:05 (6:06 pace), and Cliff Russell 1:23:36 (6:21 pace). The JSRC Veterans Team has moved up to 3rd place with 67 points, having passed the Staten Island Athletic Club. We are only 2 points out of 2nd place. Again the top three teams get awards. The Vets were lead by Tom Hall, Bill Scholl (1:26:22), and John Shavel(1:28:00). They were backed up by Dave Sauls who ran 1:31:35 and was 4th in his age group. Miles Hersey, Jeff Neis, Ron Cohen, Russell Stallone, and Bill Dunn also ran well, and would have scored for many other teams, but only the top 3 scores counted at this race. Our next mens NYRR race is on Saturday 8/17/02 in Central Park. This is the NYRR Club Championshiprace, and scores double points. So we need our full squad for a peak performance. This race along could lock up medals for both teams if our best guys can run. Also 5 Masters score in that race, so we need a deep team. If you are a JSRC member and want to run with us on 8/17/02, email Jerry Convery at Bestguy7@aol.com. Even if you are not scoring for the team on a given day, the comraderie (and post race parties) are great.

Among the club finishers were:

Bob Bythell 1:15:55

Tom Hall 1:20:05

Cliff Russell 1:23:24

Miles Hersey 1:25:00
